Lebanon, NH             Norman J. Monroe, Sr., 90 of Dartmouth Street in Claremont, NH died Monday (March 26) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a brief illness. He was born in Windsor, VT on August 31, 1921 the son of Harrison M. and Lena (Bushee) Monroe and had been a longtime area resident. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during WWII. Norman had been employed as a Security Officer by Tambrands in Claremont, NH. He enjoyed fishing, camping, ice skating and roller skating. Norman was a former member of Friends of Skiing at Arrowhead, a program that taught children how to ski. Members of his family include his wife, Freda (Roy) Monroe, Claremont, NH; whom he married on July 29, 1950, a son, Norman J. Monroe, Jr. and his wife Gail, Claremont, NH; a daughter, Normandi Ryals, Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Marcy Charron, Richmond, VT; Jason Monroe, Orlando, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert Monroe, Stanley Monroe, Theodore Monroe, and a sister, Glennora Mansville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Am on Saturday at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan street, Claremont, NH with the Rev. Susan Langle, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment with military honors provided by AL Post #29 will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of services on Saturday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Assoc., 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or the American Cancer Society, Northern New England Region, - 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, New Hampshire 03110. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
