Nina Martinson

Exeter, NH Nina Martinson, 94, of The Pines of Newmarket and formerly of Claremont, NH where she lived for 89 years died Monday (January 2) at Exeter Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born in Claremont, NH on September 1, 1917 the daughter of John and Pauline (Filistovich) Laskevich. Nina was a graduate of Stevens High School, Class of 1935. On January 14, 1942 she married Arthur Martinson in Union Episcopal Church in West Claremont. He predeceased her on January 30, 1991. Nina had been employed by the Queen Shop, Montgomery Ward, the Credit Union and later in the Student Loan Office at Dartmouth College from 1977 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church and was very active in meetings and church activities, from rummage sales to bake sales, always proud of her apple pies and famous pie crusts. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Claremont Country Club. She was an avid figure skater and performed with the Skating Club of Claremont. Pictures of her in vintage ice skating costumes are on display at the Claremont Historical Society. She loved her dogs, particularly the terriers and enjoyed walking them around the block. She was very close to her three sisters,all of whom predeceased her, Tina Giles, Anna Rosen and especially, Nellie Sabetto, to whom she talked on a daily basis. Nina’s family would like to thank the people at The Pines for their exceptional care and kindness. Members of her family include a daughter, Janice Reilly, Dover, NH; two granddaughters, Christine Reilly, Voorhees, NJ; Jessica Reilly, San Francisco, CA and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday in Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Tregubov, pastor of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a local animal shelter of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH.
