Laurent "Larry" Desilets

August 15, 1927 - August 16, 2012

Laurent N. “Larry” Desilets, 85, of Briggs Street in Claremont, NH died Thursday (August 16) at his home following a period of failing health. He was born in Claremont, NH on August 15, 1927 the son of Alfred and Yvonne (Boisclair) Desilets and had been a lifetime Claremont resident. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army. Larry had been employed as a mill man by Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Windsor, VT for 33 ½ years. He enjoyed tinkering in his shed. He also loved spending time in his swimming pool where he taught many of the neighborhood children to swim. The family would like to thank, Terri, Gary & Kimberly McCall and Melissa Maranville, for all the help given them during Larry’s illness. Members of his family include, a daughter, Linda Kingsbury and her companion, Kenneth Grinnell, Claremont, NH; three sons, Denis Desilets and his wife, Sandi Wagner, Claremont, NH; James Desilets, Claremont, NH; Carl "Chiefy" Desilets and his wife Jennifer, Claremont, NH; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Desilets, a grandson, three brothers, Marcel Desilets, Eloi Desilets, Roger Desilets and two sisters, Gilberte Desilets and Lucienne Hoff. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday in the Roy Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Boucher of St. Mary’s Parish, officiating. Committal services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Monday evening from 6 – 8 pm. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either, Connecticut Valley Homecare/Hospice, 958 John Stark Highway, Newport, NH 03773 or Sullivan County Humane Society, PO Box 111, Claremont, NH 03743.
