John Burbee

June 11, 1960 - October 10, 2010

Meriden, NH John Joseph Burbee, 50, of Meriden, NH died on Sunday October 10, 2010 in Saint Johnsbury, VT. He was born in Claremont, NH on June 11, 1960 and is the son of the late John and Alfreda (Leocha) Burbee. He was raised and educated in Claremont and graduated in 1980 from Stevens High School. He took pride in his community and chose to remain in the immediate area continuing with his family’s business.             He just recently celebrated his 30th Alumni Reunion, something he always looked forward to being a part of every five years. John absolutely adored his children and found great joy in watching them excel at their athletics and dance. He also looked forward to spending time with his family at their lake house in Vermont. It was there that he truly was able to relax while spending time on his boat or his four-wheeler or just simply taking in the view of the mountains and the lake from his special chair. His most favorite times at camp involved the yearly Fowler Fourth of July Clambakes followed by elaborate fireworks displays. He also had a passion for traveling and discovering new places but more importantly, he reveled in the awe and amazement he was able to bring to his family as they experienced these new places, too. He was even fortunate enough to Run with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.             John was the third generation owner of City Auto Sales in Newport, NH. Aside from his family, his business was something that he was very proud of. John’s strong work ethic added to his success and gained him the respect of many in the community.             He married Sara Jane Fowler on October 11, 1997 at St. Joseph’s Church in Claremont. In addition to his wife of 13 years, they have a daughter, Alyson, age 12, and a son, Johnathan, age 6.              John is also survived by his sister, Mary Burbee, her husband, Richard Horn and their daughter Megan; his sister Elaine Pellegrino and her daughter Freda. His extended family included Tom and Jane Fowler of Keene, Megan and Joseph DiRusso of Swanzey, Jason and Rachael Fowler and their two sons, Connor and Hayden of Spofford, Andrew Fowler and Robert and Marilyn Campbell, all of Claremont. John also had a special relationship with his Uncle Raymond Burbee and his cousin Jason Burbee, both of Claremont. He also looked forward to the “Cousin Parties” with the Puksta and the Leocha familes, of which are many, many aunts, uncles and cousins.             A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church on Elm St. in Claremont, NH with the Rev. Michael Gendron, pastor of All Saints Parish in Charlestown, NH, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Claremont.             Friends may call Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan St., Claremont, NH on Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
