Mr. Frederick J. McGlinchey

April 3, 1930 - June 2, 2014

Frederick J. McGlinchey, 84 of Webster Avenue in Claremont, NH died Monday (June 2) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a period of failing health. He was born in South Boston, MA on April 3, 1930 the son of Joseph F. and Ellen (Foley) McGlinchely and had been a longtime Claremont resident. Fred had been employed as a Flight Engineer by Pan American Airlines for 37 years. He loved sports in general but was a devoted Red Sox fan. He played ice hockey well into his 70’s. Fred enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cribbage and chess, hunting, kayaking and listening to Swing and Big Band music. For many years he was a Eucharistic minister, lector and sacristan at St. Mary’s Church. He was the widower of Blanche (Keiderlyng) McGlinchey who died in 1999. Members of his family include three sons, Paul McGlinchey, Oakdale, CT; Scott McGlinchey and his wife, Amanda, Mesquite, NV; Dennis Chamberlain, Spring Hill, FL; a daughter, Nancy Quinn, Spring Hill, FL; his longtime companion, Angel, seven grandchildren, Kathleen Heller and her husband, Christopher, Meagan McGlinchey, Abigail McGlinchey, Beth McGlinchey, Denise Millang, Rodger Rizzo, Patrick Rizzo, five great grandchildren, Rocco Heller, Cyndee Cason, Clayton Cason, Kain Rizzo, Nilia Rizzo and his dog, Duffy. He was predeceased by a son, Michael McGlinchey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday in St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. George Majka, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Thursday evening from 7 – 9 pm. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
